Diatas adalah nama samaran meraka dan ini nama asli mereka Matthew Charles Sanders (vocal), Brian Elwin Haner Jr (lead guitar), Zachary James Baker (guitar), Jonathan Lewis Seward (bass), Arin Ilejay (drum). Band yang berawal dari kisah pertemanan masa SMA sudah menghasilkan 7 album yaitu Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (2001), Waking the Fallen (2003), City of Evil (2005), Avenged Sevenfold (2007), Diamonds in the Rough (2008), Nightmare (2010), Hail to the King (2013). Namun dari awal terbentuknya personil sudah mengalami beberapa kali perubahan. Awal terbentuknya band ini digawangi oleh M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev dan Matt Wendt. Kemudian datang Synyster Gates pada 2000, tahun yang sama keluarnya Matt Wendt (bass). Selain itu ditahun yang sama Justin Sane (bass) bergabung dengan Matt Shadow dkk.

Hanya sampai tahun 2002. Ditahun 2002 bergabung Dameon Ash yang hanya bertahan selama setahun sampai akhirnya digantikan oleh Johnny Christ (bass) yang bertahan sampai sekarang.
